Mount Mitchell - sunset and full moon rise

October 2013

Sunset from a photographer's view

Meetup Group Outing led by Lisa Hale Photos. The plan was to enjoy the sunset at Mount Mitchell State Park and 5 minutes later, turn around and enjoy the full moon rise (Supermoon). Mother Nature had other ideas as the fog began rolling in after our short hike to the top of the mountain.

Fog rolling in - Mount Mitchell State Park

By the time the sun set, the clouds had rolled in and covered most of the mountains. Mount Mitchell's peak is above 6,600' elevation, so the fog/clouds rested just below us creating an amazing experience for us. As you can imagine, the ride back down the mountain created some white-knuckle driving, but we all arrived safely to celebrate with pizza.
